ABOUT

Winter’s Eve at Lincoln Square is an annual neighborhood holiday celebration that draws upwards of 25,000 people and features free entertainment and live music at over 20 performance venues, food tastings from 30+ of the area’s finest restaurants and eateries, family fun, shopping and more. Created in 2000, Winter’s Eve kicks off each year with the Upper West Side’s tree lighting ceremony at Dante Park and takes place in the public spaces, in select venues, and along the sidewalks of Lincoln Square, the gateway to the Upper West Side, in and around Broadway from The Shops at Columbus Circle to 70th Street.

The event is promoted by major media outlets and has dazzled with star power, including the following past performers and special guests: Micky Dolenz of The Monkees; Arlo Guthrie and Family, The Chapin Family, Judy Collins, Billy Porter, The Bacon Brothers, Joy Behar, Peter Yarrow, Bettye LaVette, John Pizzarelli, Laurie Berkner, Odetta, Richie Havens, Dan Zanes, Suzanne Vega, Joshua Bell, Laura Benanti, Justin Guarini, the cast of Avenue Q, Mayors Bloomberg and Koch, and many others.  Now celebrating its twentieth year, Winter’s Eve has become New York City’s largest holiday festival and a favorite tradition in the New York metropolitan area.

Winter’s Eve at Lincoln Square is hosted and produced by the Lincoln Square Business Improvement District (BID), a 501(c)3 not for profit organization. The BID's mission is to make Lincoln Square cleaner, safer, and more beautiful, and to undertake various improvement projects. We focus our efforts on supplemental sanitation and security services; the beautification of public spaces, malls, and parks; and the promotion and marketing of the area's diverse business and cultural offerings. The BID acts as a catalyst, working with business, community, and city partners, to promote positive change in Lincoln Square.  Our programs and initiatives, including Winter’s Eve at Lincoln Square – New York’s largest holiday festival, are designed to foster tourism, and to showcase the rich and varied resources of this vibrant Upper West Side neighborhood.
