ABOUT DAVE CALVER
Dave Calver is the illustrator behind the Lincoln Square Business Improvement District’s (BID) 20th annual Winter’s Eve at Lincoln Square. In fact, Calver has been creating the iconic snowman art for the Winter’s Eve celebration, New York’s largest holiday festival, each year since 2002. His unique style is both dazzling and fun, matching the atmosphere of this favorite Upper West Side tradition perfectly.
Calver grew up in Rochester, New York and attended college at the Rhode Island School of Design. After college, he began his career as an artist in New York City, and later moved to Palm Springs, California where he lives now and still creates as an experienced illustrator. The clientele he has built in his 30 years as an artist is as impressive as his skill, working with around 300 different customers present day.
These days, ever-still the remarkable illustrator, he’s working on many different projects in addition to his work for the Lincoln Square BID. Calver is currently in the midst of creating several pieces of gallery art that you can view in the gallery portfolio on his website. He is also working on art for a soon-to-be-published graphic novel, a movie, and a line of character shoulder bags. Recently, Calver was included in Taschen’s “100 Illustrators”, chosen as the best of the best from over 600 illustrators, in their popular “Illustration Now” series.
